Muslin is a woven cotton fabric originally from Bangladesh, which was introduced to Europe in the 17th century. Muslim became popular at the end of the 18th century in France and is typically an unbleached or white cotton. Muslim is often used to make sewing patterns for clothing, curtains, or upholstery, and for mock versions of dresses and gowns. Because air moves easily through muslin, muslin clothing is suitable for hot, dry climates.

Muslin fabric is used in mock dresses and gowns in order to perfect styling and fit without cutting the production fabric. Muslin can also be printed with sewing patterns for a higher-quality, longer lived pattern, or dyed for use as a backdrop or shading for theatrical or photographic productions.

CARE: Muslin is machine washable and may be dried at any heat.
