Alencon Lace #2

The Alencon lace #2 is a durable needle lace with an ornate grey floral pattern outlined with heavy gold thread or ribbon. Made when hundreds of small stitches are sewn together, the fabric is so strong it will not unravel even when one or more of the loops is broken. Called the Queen of Lace, Alencon is named for the region in France where it was created in the Venetian style to provide relief from the country's dependence on expensive imports.
