Sturdy stuff

I bought the fabric to make a womens vintage Edwardian
bathing costume. The pattern suggested gabardine. This fabric was a
bit heavier than would have been desirable for a highly-tailored
piece of clothing. It frayed easily and was difficult to fold and
tended to be slippery to work with. It serged very well, and
ultimately the item came out well. I did a color test to see if it
would bleed on to the white trim (the fabric was navy blue), and it
did not.
