DescriptionDerived from the Italian word for “double”, douppioni fabric is produced when two silkworms spin their cocoons closely together. The thread from the twin silkworms has tiny variations in the thickness and creates a decorative texture to the finished silk cloth. The super fine italian douppioni fabric has a lustrous sheen and holds beads and embroidery well making it perfect for formal apparel and evening wear. Because the fabric takes dye beautifully it is available in a wide array of rich colors and does not wrinkle easily.

This was my first purchase and I was very pleased with
the fabric. I appreciated the depth of color and texture. I was
looking for something that was beautiful, but didn't look like
eveningwear silk. The fabric was easy to sew with and as the
website noted, the fabric is great for beading. I made the dress
for my daughter for a special daytime occasion and she thought the

Beautiful Silk Fabric

I used this material to make a beautiful summer dress for
a christening. It sews up wonderful. It has just the right amount
of sheen, I would order this fabric again. Great for dresses,
blouses and even a suit.
