Poylester Crepe Back Satin is a lighter medium weight, shiny fabric most often used for eveningwear, bridal/wedding, and lingerie. The face side of this fabric features a glossy satin finish while the back has a traditional pebbly crepe texture. Although crepe back satin is usually used with the satin side as face, this fabric is technically reversible. It has a similar look and drape to charmeuse, but is much more forgiving and easy to work with. This fabric is available in a wide range of colors.

First Quality Fabric
Glossy and soft on face side, slightly pebbly on back side. Soft drape.
Extremely high degree of shine on face side, completely matte on back side
- The high shine of this fabric makes every seam, pucker, and mistake more evident. Take care when sewing
- Crepe back satin has the advantage of looking like charmeuse but being much more versatile - you can apply a lot of seaming to this fabric but it is also great to take advantage of its soft drape and use on the bias with few seams
- Cutting on the bias will cause the fabric to grow. Let a garment hang for at least 72 hours before finishing the hem so it reaches its full length.
- Use with nap cutting layout (i.e. all pattern pieces laid out in the same lengthwise direction) so all pattern pieces reflect light the same way and shading is prevented.
- Use standard stitch size and a sharp, fine needle when machine sewing - it's best to use a new needle every time you start a project to ensure sharpness.
- Use standard fusible interfacing if needed with this fabric - our lightweight fusible knit interfacing is perfect
- Even when fully lining the garment, overlock (serge) seam allowances to prevent fraying
- Depending on the garment, some of the finishes you can use are: overlock (serger), binding, rolled hem, hand-stitched or top-stitched hem. Since this fabric is thick avoid finishes that will create bulk from several layers.
Hand wash gently in cold water with gentle detergent - lay flat to dry, do not wring out.
