The cotton ikat is an eye-catching ethnic print fabric imported from India which has been dyed through a process similar to tie-dye for its pleasing effect. The difference with ikat is that the pattern is dyed into the threads before cloth construction. Ikat is an Indonesian term and the process is now used all over the world. It is one of the oldest forms of textile decoration.
