The Linen Herringbone features the classic pattern on a lightweight first quality imported linen fabric. dynamic and luxurious, Herringbone has been used in fabric for centuries as a classic mens suiting and womens skirt fabric. So called due to its resemblance to the skeleton of a Herring fish, Herringbone provides a distinguished look for any occasion. Linen is a natural fiber made from flax. Like cotton, linen is a perfect warm weather fabric because of its natural absorbency and breathability. It's known for its characteristic slubby texture and beautiful soft drape. This fabric is can be used for dresses, skirts, pants, jackets, drapes, placemats, seat covers, and other home furnishings, and because it is made from long staple fibers, our linen does not pill when washed.

Tips and Tricks:

  •  This fabric is very forgiving and easy to sew, but tends to ravel at raw edges – be sure to finish all seams and hems!
  • Lighter colors are slightly sheer – consider lining garments if modesty is a concern. Line in a natural fiber like cotton to maintain breathability.
  • Use standard stitch size and a universal needle when machine sewing
  • Linen tends to wrinkle easily, and does not hold a pressed crease well
  • Great for tailored and structured garments as well as softer or fuller silhouettes
  • Even when fully lining the garment, finish seam allowances to prevent fraying
  • Depending on the garment, some of the finishes you can use are: French seams, overlock (serger), binding, rolled hem, hand-stitched or top-stitched hem.

Care:
This may be dry cleaned, machine washed on delicate, steamed and hung to dry.
