Wool elastique blend fabric has a distinctive diagonal ribbed pattern, a result of its double weave, which is thicker than that of gabardine or serge. Elastique is a heavier weight fabric that is especially durable, holds creases well and resist wrinkles, lending to its popularity in military uniforms. The material is a great choice for cooler climates, as the double weave provides warmth as well as a professional look. Wool elastique blend fabric is a favorite of military and civilian uniforms, and also works well in suits, slacks and skirts.

The End of my search!

 Recommended Product

I have been looking for this fabric for years, but I didn't know what it was called. I was making jodphurs and no one had the right thing then I found an article about elastique and its properties which led me to your company. And the fact that you had more colors than white or beige... in fact you had the very color family that my project required. Very happy with my purchase.

Pros: Rare, and often prohibitively expensive: you carried it and it was a price that I could work with. I'm a freelance costumer and designer who doesn't like to "make do" with something close to the right thing, and to have found pretty much exactly what I was looking for was truly exciting!

Cons: Everything about the fabric was great. The turnaround time between placing the order and receiving it gave me a couple of anxious days but in the end it was all good.

difficult-to-find fabric, found at last

 Recommended Product

I've been looking for wool elastique for some time, to make historical reproduction horse-riding clothing. Elastique is the correct fabric for jodhpurs. While I would love to find an all-wool version, this wool/poly blend has the correct weave, behaves nicely, and looks great. The high polyester content does give it a hard, unmistakable "blend" feel, but until I find an all-wool elastique fabric, I'll keep using this.

Pros: It's very nice to have the same colors available in both the gabardine and the elastique, so that I can make a suit with gabardine jacket and elastique jodhpurs. If there was a melton to match both for the skirt, I'd have everything I needed for a side-saddle suit!

Cons: too much polyester

Understated durability

 Recommended Product

I'm currently in the second round prototype of a jacket using this material. It has just the right combination of sturdiness and flexibility. The only possible downside (from a retail perspective) is that the fabric may not be perceived as being of the quality that it is. (To the untrained eye, it may appear as a more standard cotton/poly blend.) But it's usefulness and durability is clearly proven, as it's used in professional and military uniforms.

Pros: Can Withstand Use, Versatile, Easy To Use

Cons: None
